Hi, I'm Amy. With 18 years' experience in education, including seven years as Head of English and three years as Vice Principal, I've chosen to focus on what I enjoy most - working closely with young people to help them grow in confidence and achieve their potential. I believe every student can succeed with the right support. My tuition is personalised, supportive and designed to build confidence as well as academic success. I take time to understand each student's strengths, barriers and learning style before creating a tailored programme to help them achieve their goals. Parents are an important part of that journey. I provide regular progress updates, explain what effective revision should look like and share practical strategies that families can use to support learning between sessions. I also create bespoke revision resources and independent tasks so students continue making progress outside of lessons. Whether your child needs to improve confidence, prepare for GCSE examinations, catch up after missing school, or stretch towards the highest grades, my aim is to help them become independent, resilient learners who enjoy English and believe in their own ability. I am currently accepting bookings for KS3, GCSE English Language and Literature, home-educated learners, and students with SEND, including ADHD, autism and dyslexia.
Teaching Experience
I have 18 years' experience teaching English across KS3, GCSE and A-Level, including seven years as Head of English and three years as Vice Principal leading Quality of Education and curriculum development. I teach all major UK exam boards, including AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas, OCR and Cambridge IGCSE. I am also a current AQA GCSE English Literature examiner, giving me detailed insight into assessment standards, mark schemes and what examiners reward in high-scoring responses. I have extensive experience supporting students of all abilities, from those needing to rebuild confidence to high-attaining students aiming for Grades 8–9. I also work successfully with students with SEND, including ADHD, autism and dyslexia, adapting lessons to suit individual learning needs. My approach extends beyond the lesson itself. I work closely with parents to help them understand what effective revision looks like, providing practical, manageable strategies they can use to support learning at home. I create personalised revision plans and bespoke resources that students can use independently between sessions, helping them make consistent progress.
