Vanessa Egappen
I am a passionate maths teacher and online tutor who truly enjoys helping students grow in confidence and ability. I love breaking difficult concepts into simple steps and creating lessons that feel interactive, supportive, and easy to follow online.
I have experience working with students of different ages and learning styles, and I enjoy building positive relationships that help them feel comfortable asking questions. For me, the most rewarding part of tutoring is seeing a student go from feeling unsure to feeling confident and proud of their progress.
Teaching Experience
I am an experienced mathematics educator with 23 years of teaching experience across South Africa and internationally. My background includes teaching CAPS, Cambridge IGCSE/AS, and IBDP mathematics in both classroom and online settings. I have worked as a senior maths teacher, international numeracy coach, mentor, and teaching and learning coordinator, which has strengthened my ability to support students of different abilities and learning styles. I also have online teaching experience using interactive platforms such as Zoom, Teams, and online assessment tools.
Education
I hold a BA Honours in Psychology, followed by a National Professional Diploma in Education (Mathematics), which I completed cum laude. I have also completed Cambridge Additional Mathematics training, advanced coaching skills in mathematics, and IBDP Approaches to Teaching and Learning. These qualifications have strengthened both my understanding of how students learn and my ability to teach mathematics effectively across different curricula.
