Jessica Pike
I am trained as a languages specialist-particularly Spanish and French through to A-Level. In addition, latterly I have a variety of experience teaching English, Maths and wider subjects across the curriculum at primary level which I thoroughly enjoy.
As well as languages expertise across the age ranges I now also specialise in helping primary pupils build the confidence, comprehension and reasoning skills, particularly in relation to 11+ success.
As an experienced teacher and tutor with a background spanning both primary and secondary education, I provide personalised support in Spanish, French and English, as well as verbal reasoning and literacy-based 11+ preparation.
My teaching approach combines structured learning with encouragement and confidence-building, helping children feel secure, motivated and well prepared-both for public exams and for the transition to secondary education.
Lessons are tailored carefully to each pupil’s strengths, learning style and goals, with a focus on developing strong comprehension, vocabulary, analytical reading and exam technique skills in a calm and supportive environment.
I believe children make the best progress when they feel both challenged and encouraged, and I work closely with families to ensure tutoring remains positive, engaging and effective.
After graduating from Exeter University I worked in finance and marketing before completing a PGCE in MFL. I am also an avid musician/songwriter, tennis and padel player, and a serious beach lover!
With three children of my own a holistic education is very important to me, meaning that although the academic side is important, life education is equally so. As a former Form Tutor and Personal Tutor I pride myself on working closely with students to guide them in the right direction and be a listening ear in a time of need.
I am very much a people person and love to work with young people, sharing advice and skills with my students in an ever-changing world that can be very challenging to navigate.
Teaching Experience
I spent my first 5 years of teaching at Bryanston School which I thoroughly enjoyed, balancing teaching with pastoral duties in a boarding house and coaching sports. I then moved to Bournemouth Collegiate School where I was Head of Spanish until 2016. After a brief hiatus bringing up children I then taught at Bournemouth Grammar School for Girls until the arrival of more children and a dog meant I now work more flexibly educating and nurturing students online. I currently specialise in English, Languages and the 11+ entrance exam for either 1-1 students or groups. (GL board).

“The session was really good and informative”
“This lesson was very useful in helping me understand the longer format questions in my AQA French GCSE mock. In particular it really helped and developed my understanding on "my life online"”
